Neighbors Taking Care of Neighbors

Morgan County Golden Stars is a group of local volunteers who have been looking out for kids, families, and Veterans in our community since 2005. We’re not a big organization with a big staff. We’re your neighbors, coworkers, and friends, and we give our time because we believe no one in Morgan County should go without the basics.

Who We Are

Golden Stars began in 2005 as a volunteer effort under the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. What started as a small Christmas toy drive grew year after year as more people in the community stepped up to help.

Today, Golden Stars is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, but the heart of it hasn’t changed. It’s still local people helping local people, one family and one Veteran at a time.

What We Do

Christmas for Kids
Every Christmas, each child we serve receives a new pair of shoes, a coat, and an outfit, along with a toy and a gift. Every family also receives a grocery store gift card, so the holidays include a full table too. In the last 5 years, we’ve served over 2,500 children.

Veteran Care
We’re proud to serve the Veterans who served us. Our volunteers give rides to appointments, build wheelchair ramps, pick up medications, and help with the everyday things that get harder over time.

Emergency Help
When a family loses their home to fire or disaster, we step in with clothing, hygiene items, and essentials until insurance or other organizations can take over.

How We Work

We keep our focus narrow on purpose. Morgan County has a lot of great organizations, and we’d rather fill the gaps than duplicate what others already do well. That means every dollar and every volunteer hour goes toward needs that might otherwise go unmet.

A special thank you to St. Elizabeth Hospital for generously providing Golden Stars with a home base. Their support gives our volunteers a place to work and helps us serve more Morgan County kids and Veterans every year.

None of this happens without people who show up. Whether you can give an hour, a donation, or a new coat, there’s a place for you at Golden Stars.
